Lookouts Game Notes 4/8/16

Here are the Game Notes for Game 2 of the 2016 Season!

Lookouts Game Notes 4-8-16

Last Time Out: The Lookouts dropped game one of the 2016 season, 4-0. SP Jason Wheeler had a rough first inning, getting touched for 3 runs, but settled in nicely finishing with 5 Ks and not allowing another ER. Unfortunately one rough inning was all Biloxi needed for the win as Chattanooga’s offense managed just 3 hits, one each by C Stuart Turner (2B), DH Mitch Garver and 3B Leo Reginatto.

Mop Up Duty: Relievers Marcus Walden and Alex Wimmers both shined out of the bullpen last night. Walden pitched two perfect innings with a pair of Ks in his Lookout debut, while Wimmers continued his successful transition to the bullpen after starting last season in the Lookouts rotation (1 IP, 1 H, 0 R). Since switching roles in 2015, Wimmers is 2-1 with a 2.91 ERA (6-3, 4.90 ERA as a SP last year).

Bax vs BLX: DJ Baxendale’s last start against Biloxi was a huge one, as he picked up the W in the clinching game of the 2015 SL Championship. Baxendale pitched 5 shutout innings, allowing just 4 hits while striking out 3 in Game 5 at AT&T Field. Last night’s starter Jason Wheeler closed the game out with 4 shutout innings of his own to win the title for the Lookouts, their first since 1988.

Familiar Faces: This year’s roster features 19 players from last year’s SL Championship team, including SLCS MVP Jason Wheeler.

Top Prospects: Gone are the days of Sano, Buxton and Berrios, but that doesn’t mean the Lookouts are devoid of big name prospects. 8 of MIN top 30 prospects will play for CHA, topped by relievers Nick Burdi (#9, on DL) and JT Chargois (#10).
