Lookouts Game Notes 4-12-16

News & Notes

Last Time Out: Chattanooga dropped the series finale against Biloxi by a score of 3-1. The Lookouts got a quality start from righty Ryan Eades but couldn’t produce enough offense to back him up despite outhitting the Shuckers seven to five. Those seven hits (two by RF Daniel Palka) led to just one run in the top of the fifth when SS Engelb Vielma scored on a single from 3B Leo Reginatto. Biloxi put the game away with two runs off bullpen arm Jake Reed in the bottom of the seventh.

Solid First Impression: SP Ryan Eades pitched extremely well in his Lookouts debut, holding Biloxi to just three hits and a run in six innings while striking out three. The right-hander spent all of last season with Ft Myers, going 6-3 with a 3.11 ERA in 20 GS.

Looking For Some Home Cookin’: The Lookouts offense got off to a slow start in their season opening series against Biloxi. Chattanooga batters managed just 15 ER with a .211 AVG and .276 OBP in five games. Perhaps the return to AT&T Field, where the Lookouts collectively hit .260 with 50 HR and a .351 OBP in 2015, will help the offense get going.

Opening Day: The Lookouts return to AT&T Field today for their 2016 home opener and first official home game since clinching the Southern League Championship in 2015. First pitch is at 6:15 and will be proceeded by a ceremony recognizing the team’s 2015 title (their first since 1988), with the game being followed by the first fireworks show of the year. Chattanooga won their last home opener, 4-3 over Birmingham behind seven shutout innings from Tyler Duffey and the first of 31 HRs from Adam Brett Walker II.
