Lookouts Game Notes 4-13-16

News & Notes

Last Time Out: The Lookouts came just short of ending their home opener on a high note, falling to the Jackson Generals 4-3 Tuesday Night at AT&T Field. Despite the first two hitters reaching base in the bottom of the ninth, Chattanooga couldn’t drive anyone, sealing the loss on a ground out by 1B DJ Hicks. SP Jason Wheeler cruised through the first three innings allowing just two hits and striking out two. His only blemish on the night was a three-run fourth, though none of the runs ended up being earned in the box score. CF Zach Granite and C Stuart Turner were the big bats for Chattanooga. Granite was 2-for-5 with 2R while Turner was 1-for-3 with a 2B and a walk.

Starting With a Bang: Lookouts’ starting pitchers have been solid across the board to start the season. Their rotation has thrown 4 QS in 6 G with 16 K compared to 8 walks with a 2.91 ERA in 34 innings pitched.

Swing And A Miss: JT Chargois has faced six batters in two outings with the Lookouts in 2016. Five of those batters have struck out swinging, including two Ks in an inning pitched in last night’s home opener.

Getting On But Not In: The Lookouts offense left 10 runners on base last night and were a combined 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position. This is becoming a worrisome trend as Chattanooga has plated only 20 runs in six games this season, with 9 of them coming in their only win of the season.

Bax @ AT&T: Today’s game will be DJ Baxendale’s first start at home since getting the win with a 5 shutout inning outing in the clinching game of the 2015 Southern League Championship series.
