Lookouts Game Notes 4-14-16

News & Notes

Last Time Out: Homeruns by 1B DJ Hicks and RF Daniel Palka powered the Lookouts to a 5-2 victory and their first home win of the season. Palka finished the game 3-for-4 with 2 R and a RBI, and fell just a triple short of the cycle, while Hicks was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. C Mitch Garver also finished with two hits raising his average to .263 on the year. DJ Baxendale started the game on the mound and pitched 5 solid innings, allowing 7 hits but holding Jackson to just one run and striking out three for his first win. Brett Lee and Brandon Peterson held the Generals to just 2 hits and a run (all charged to Lee) over the 6th, 7th and 8th inning, while Marcus Walden closed the game with his third career save.

The Long Ball: DJ Hicks and Daniel Palka’s homeruns yesterday not only led the Lookouts to a win, but vaulted the team to a tie for second in the Southern League in long balls with four (one each by Garver, Harrison, Hicks and Palka), second only to Tennessee and Mobile.

New Guy In Town: INF TJ White was added to the Lookouts roster this morning as SS Engelb Vielma went to the DL with a right hamstring strain. White was hitting .273 with 2 RBI with Ft. Myers before the transfer, and hit .251 with 54 RBI and 13 SB across two levels in 2015.

Turning Two: Levi Michael, Leo Reginatto and DJ Hicks turned yet another double play for the Lookouts, giving the team a league-leading 15 this season.

Third Baseman Travis Harrison: Travis Harrison made his first appearance at the hot corner since 2014 yesterday. Two seasons ago he started 15 games there for Ft. Myers.
