Lookouts Game Notes 4-20-16

News & Notes

Last Time Out: A rough outing by SP David Hurlbut put the Lookouts down early and they weren’t able to close the gap at any point in Tuesday’s 7-4 loss. Hurlbut lasted just 3.1 innings and allowed 5 R (4 of them earned) on 9 hits. Jake Reed and Corey Williams each allowed a R out of the bullpen to further the deficit. The Lookouts offense scored 4 runs on just 5 hits thanks to some help from 4 errors and 6 walks from the Braves. CF Shannon Wilkerson reached base three times in his second game back from the DL, 2B Levi Michael and RF Joe Maloney each went 1-3 with an RBI and a R, but it ultimately proved not enough to claw out a win.

Rally Runs pt. II: After scoring ANOTHER pair of late inning runs last night, Chattanooga’s offense continued to do much of its scoring towards the end of the game. The two runs (one each in the 7th and 8th) were the 24th and 25th runs this year scored in the seventh inning or later by Chattanooga, which accounts for 45% of the teams scoring on the season.

Stat Stuffer: Levi Michael continued his excellent series against the Braves while putting a stat in every column of the box score last night. Michael was 1-3 with a run, an RBI, a walk and a strikeout. Michael is 4-for-9 in the three games against Mississippi.

Go-To Guys: Bullpen Arms Marcus Walden and Corey Williams made their 5th and 4th appearances in relief last night and both continued to a reliable option for the Lookouts. Williams pitched 2 innings of one run ball while striking out 3, bringing his ERA up to 1.42 (he had yet to allow a R), while Walden was perfect through 1.2 innings with a strikeout (2.16 ERA).
