News & Notes
Last Time Out: The Lookouts capped a wild affair to open the second half with a go-ahead hit-by-pitch and a 6-5 win over the Generals. Travis Harrison wore a pitch in the eighth inning with the bases loaded to bring home the winning run, a half inning after Jackson tied the game with a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch. Harrison finished the game 3-3 for two doubles, two runs and two RBI. Leo Reginatto had a big day at the plate as well going 3-for-4 with an inside the park homer in the 4th inning. Zack Granite and Mitch Garver also hit home runs for the Lookouts. David Hurlbut threw a quality start with six innings pitched, six hits allowed, two runs surrendered and six struck out. Trevor Hildenberger suffered his first southern league blown save, but got the win and lowered his ERA to 0.71 with a scoreless outing.
Feeling Better: Ryan Eades has allowed just one earned run in three starts since returning from the Disabled List. He enters tonight’s start with 13 consecutive scoreless innings and is 2-0 with a 0.53 ERA in June. In his last six starts, Eades is 4-0 with a 1.25 ERA (just 5 runs allowed in 36 innings pitched).
Closing Time: Trevor Hildenberger was a huge highlight for the Lookouts in the first half and has been absolutely lights out for the Lookouts since getting called up from Ft. Myers, April 26th. He has allowed just two runs all year and is scoreless in 19.1 straight innings, allowed just eight hits, two walks and has struck out 22 over that span. Hildenberger blew his first save with the Lookouts when he plunked a batter with the bases loaded last night, but wasn’t charged with a run and earned the win when the Lookouts took the lead in the bottom of eighth.
Quality Work: David Hurlbut threw his fifth straight quality start last night. He is 2-0 with a 1.45 ERA in 31.1 innings pitched in those five games.
Highly-Touted: #6 Twins Prospect Stephen Gonsalves is scheduled to make his Lookouts debut tomorrow. Gonsalves passed recent-Miracle teammate Kohl Stewart as the highest ranked prospect on the Chattanooga roster and was also ranked #99 overall in the top 100 prospects and listed as the #10 best LHP prospect (all per MLB Pipeline). Gonsalves joins the Lookouts after going 5-4 with a 2.33 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 11 games started and 65.2 innings pitched for Ft. Myers.
Hey Now, You’re An All Star: Trevor Hildenberger, DJ Baxendale, Travis Harrison, Daniel Palka, & Mitch Garver represented the Lookouts in Pearl, MS for the 2016 Southern League All Star Game. Palka and Garver both started for the North Division team, while Harrison got a hit after subbing in off the bench. Baxendale and Hildenberger each had scoreless outings.
