While fellow 2014 White Sox draft pick Carlos Rodon (taken 3 overall) has made it to the Bigs already, Spencer Adams (44 overall) shouldn’t be too far behind. With none of his pitches rating below a 50 on the scouting scale and a 60 grade in control, Adams shows all the polish Major League team’s look for before advancing a prospect, and in 2015 the tools matched the results for the 20-year-old. Spencer went 12-5 across two levels last season, throwing 129.1 innings in his first full pro season. Adams has shown a consistent and athletic delivery throughout his career so far, though his speed and bite on his slider have faded a bit since his prep days. Now in the Southern League, Adams will have to make strides with his strength/conditioning and mental approach to keep up with more advanced hitters, should his offerings remain a step below where they once were. The Lookouts get their first look at Adams Saturday night.
